What can judicial officers do?

Judicial Officers provide a wide range of services. More specifically, they can:

Draw up a document
For instance: draw up a summons for the District Court.

Serve a document
For instance: serve a District Court judgment on the party involved or summons somebody to appear before the court.

Prepare a document
For instance: prepare a protest of a bill or cheque.

Make findings
For instance: make an inventory of merchandise for the sale or purchase of a business, determine water damage.

Execute a judgment
For instance: compulsory debt collection under a judgment.

Collect debt under a settlement agreement
In other words: without recourse to a court.

Act as a debt mediator
For instance: negotiate on a repayment plan between a debtor and his creditors.
The judge of the attachment section may also appoint a judicial officer to hold the legal mandate of "debt mediator" in the "collective debt settlement" procedure.

Levy prejudgment attachment on assets
In other words: Freezing somebody's assets under his responsibility pending a judgment.

Levy attachment in execution
For instance: attaching part of the salary of a lender who does not comply with the provisions of his loan agreement.

Distribute attached funds
For instance: divide the proceeds of a sale in execution among all known creditors.

Act as a sequestrator and provisional administrator

For instance: take goods into safe custody, under his responsibility, pending a decision on the merits of a dispute.
